I have to say it but I get stuck. 1 and 2 and ... -- Learning to play Wynton Marsalis blues - 3 bars - first measure - a quarter note plus half note (1 and 2) then goes to eighth note (and) - then quarter note - quarter note . 4/4 time -- I've been practicing - how can I get faster - Should I just continue on -- like my instructor had said years ago when I could take lessons - she said - if you make a mistake - continue on --This has been a source of stress for me. Any tips for getting the rhythm? It could be that I need to clear out distractions. I work full time. I'm married with pets. I already have a fair amount of songs from artists such as John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley, Duke Ellington, Art Tatum, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Dexter Gordon, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Stitt and Wynton Marsalis. As you can see most of these Jazz artists are known to many Jazz listeners, my question is what are some artists who are not as known. I prefer if they are more modern and I mainly like Bebop but also swing and some Big band.
